Siren Song hosts a band called Millions of Dead Cops
Chief Andy Mills:
"Sirens Song hosts band Millions of Dead Cops. What if they said Millions of Dead...whatever. Repugnant. Boycott Sirens Song. Vote w your Dollars This has No place in a civil society."
My comments:
Will we see the outrage from the local left and NCJ and LOCO as we did about the Mateel and homophobic rap?
The so called tolerant left has no problem with hate or violence unless it is against police, conservatives, Trump voters and anyone they disagree with; disgusting!
I received threats, of course anonymously. There is no complete anonymity in cyber space. All such messages can be saved, as well.

My understanding is they changed their name to some version of MDC (Like Millions of Dead Children) back in the early '80's.
ReplyDeleteKym, that is not how wikipedia lists them.
Deletehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDC_(band)
That was their original name but they don't use it anymore. For instance, the Rolling Stone, the U.S.'s premier music mag, calls them MDC in November of this year. The Millions of Dead Cops is referenced as teh name of their premier album that came out in the 80's

Also Wikipedia also says "the band also changed their name to a different initialism of MDC with every new record released."
ReplyDeleteKym, you and I have always been able to talk about issues we disagree about; I hope that continues. Whether they changed their name or not; the fact that they change their name at a whim shows their complete lack of character.
ReplyDeleteTo anyone having an issue with this boycott, you are hypocritical. A boycott is fine when it suits your agenda. There are bad apples in every profession. I do not condone violence against any group. Maybe the next time Siren Song or you have an issue with someone, you can call MDC to protect you. Law enforcement has their hands full in Eureka and Humboldt protecting those that appreciate them. I am fed up of this anti law enforcement attitude. All of you keyboard critics could not handle five minutes of what they go through daily, repeatedly.
ReplyDeleteThey still have a Facebook page while it does say MDC on it, it still does say Million of Dead Cops listed on their Facebook page. It shows upcoming shows etc and ones listed before. Should we be offended by the name? Hmm maybe perhaps, perhaps not? It's one interpretation I guess of who they are and how they live and act in society. Free speech as well. The name alone can be offensive to some, but who they harm, conservatives like myself or liberals who may not object? Maybe know one. Maybe they are people who are against the system but live a radical life or a peaceful one. Maybe they support many rights. It goes both ways on either side.
ReplyDeleteJohn---We've had this for fifty years: the Dead Kennedys; Off With Their Heads;
ReplyDeletePussy Riot; This Bike is a Pipe Bomb; Naked Violence; Severed Heads of State; Murder Junkies; Letter Kills; Sex Pistols: etc etc etc. I don't see a liberal-conservative issue here---nor do I see anyone moved to act out Punk Band names.
What we have not had until recently(and by recently, I mean pre Trump and during Obama) is open rebellion and disobedience of police, riots, police being ambushed when answering regular calls to protect the public, so called mainstream networks digging out alleged "police brutality" incidents from years ago, hyping police-citizen interactions to create more distrust. I do not like any of the names above either. I just find it ironic that the PC crowd that gets outraged over regular, every day light hearted talk is ok with anti police mentality. In Humboldt, that attitude is too prevalent.
ReplyDeleteThis just happened today.

But John, MDC named their group in 1980--and it a sort of off shot from the Dead Kennedys--Connecting Punk Band names--trying so hard to "provoke"--
Deletewith recent politics seems like a stretch. AND--seems to give the band a lot of free publicity. The "PC crowd" didn't object to the Dead Kennedys--or did I miss it back then?
Anon, I am enjoying this very civil and intelligent debate. You make very good points. The PC crowd did not object then or now. Thank you for pointing out their selective outrage, when it suits them.
ReplyDeleteHere is the facebook link advertising them locally, still as Million Dead Cops.
