District Attorney Fleming addressed the court yesterday after Fr. Eric's sisters read theor statements.
"The facts show that the defendant had assistance of his family and an opportunity to reach out." She referred to his arrest in November 2013 when he called and asked his mother for money to get a hotel room. "This time he chose not to call. It was very clear he knew what he was doing. He even fooled the security guard."
"He made the choice to destroy a life and a community. This Court has heard senseless crimes many times. For years, the rectory has served as a safe place where people turned for refuge. It is in this house, the defendant chose to break in and kill."
Ms. Fleming said that it was "clear he understoods his actions." She pointed out the wrapping of the body, dousing in alcohol, trying to burn the body, set the rectory on fire and taking the time to put the garage car down after he stole Fr. Eric's car as examples.
District Attorney Maggie Fleming read from a transcript of a recent jail call that Bullock made to his mother. In that call, Carol Bruno asked him to appeal and he responded why would he appeal., "I'm guilty. I was in the wrong."
The rectory has only been a safe place since 1992 when Rev. Gary Timmons molested a little boy inside... so i guess " for years" is accurate. 24 Years.
ReplyDeleteI was not in California or a member of St. Bernard's at that time. Yes, I know about Gary Timmons. That was one priest at St. Bernard's. This post is not about Timmons, it is about Gr. Eric. It is petty for you to bring that up in a case where there was no molestation. This was about a druggie enabled by a mother in denial who brutally killed a good man.
