HumCPR hearing to recover attorney fees from County of Humboldt, Janelle Egger's lawsuit same ole same ole

This morning there was a hearing on Janelle Egger's lawsuit against the County of Humboldt. The Human Right's Commission is also named a respondent. Missed the hearing but ran into Janelle at the courthouse. No decision yet, same ole same ole, according to Janelle.

Humboldt Coalition for Property Rights has a hearing scheduled on December 18 to recover attorney costs and fees from the County of Humboldt.

Both hearings took place in Courtroom 5 this morning.

  1. John, I haven't seen your comment decrying the misuse of the court system by the right-wing Bill Bertain. Don't you generally decry these lawsuits when brought by those you don't approve-of?

I'd even argue this is worse b/c of the timing. I'd actually be down with this suit that Bertain filed on behalf of his candidate 1 month before the election if it was after the election. I too believe that ethics as outlined in that course you posted about a week ago are critical. If the incumbent is somehow aidig his current employer by votes as a Commissioner that should be addressed in court.

But he shouldn't be pre-judged, which in essence an announced suit 1 month before the election asks voters to do.

Don't you agree, or is this an exception b/c _______.

    1. Jon, do not waste my time if you don't bother to read and just want to blather on. But that is what you do. What in the above post is decrying anything? Your comment as usual is not even remotely related to the topic at hand. All you do is rant about the right so do not project your partisan blinders on me. I have covered both right and left equally, one example cases involving both Dave Meserve and Rob Mcbeth's sons. You on the other hand have never risked anything for your stands. I am under no obligation to explain myself to someone who has no clue about the basics of anything, let alone journalism and a biased view of politics. Jon, when you learn what dialogue means and what it means to listen and tolerate different points of view, maybe we can chat. When you hold Linda Atkins and the current progressive Eureka City Council majority that have done absolutely nothing to combat crime, homelessness or create jobs accountable, you have a right to question anyone else. When you stand up to the tactics of the left, you will have something you currently lack, integrity. Whether Bill Bertain's lawsuit has merit or not will be decided in court. Based on the court hearings I have attended, Janelle can file all the papers she wants but legally she has not proved a thing, yet. Filing lawsuits to make a point is the left's agenda, not the right's. BayKeeper, EPIC, Peter Martin, Richard Salzman, need I go on. You have double standards Jon and a myopia when it comes to the motives and characters who do not fit your leftist utopia.Do not waste my time further commenting unless you have something relevant to add and not just a personal attack.

So this is OK? So let me get this straight then...both left and right file political lawsuits but the left does more of them? I'm not sure any of the court cases you mentioned were as politically motivated. And by politically motivated I mean meant to change the results of an election base on inuendo alone.

When speaking with Bill, who had a Angelos sign up before the case if there is any questions about his political affiliation, he said he felt it was important for people to have this information before the election so they can make the choice based on all the information before them.

You've been paying closure attention to BayKeeper's etc law suits. Are these timed to change elections or are they real concerns that individuals or groups have that don't happen to allign with your own concerns.

That's my question and I'm not attacking you personally, I'm trying to understand your arguments. You've said in the past that the left is the one that waste's people's time and money with feckless (my word) lawsuits. Isn't this how you feel? If it is, isn't Bill's case the most feckless of all cases b/c it's not about the suit itself - we all know what the results will be. It's about changing an election. That's the goal, and ironically, he is using our justice system to do this.
