No response from the mysterious email sender; the Union says they have no idea who the author is

I have not received a response from the email address that had the original rant, I mean letter, sent to the Supervisors.

I emailed the Supervisors asking if they had heard from the Union.

This is an email sent out to the Supervisors today.

Dear Supervisors:

The AFSCME Union was made aware today of an online letter circulating on the Lost Coast Outpost and possibly other media blogs or outlets.

We would like to make it perfectly clear that this Union has not authorized this letter and has no idea who the author might be.

Any communications actually sanctioned by the Union will be signed appropriately.  If you have any questions, please contact us at the Union office.

 Joel Bollinger, Office Secretary

So far the email address has not been deleted. That account belongs to someone. Had the original email not been released yesterday, none of this would have come to light. The timing of the email, the details are not some random coincidence.  There were protests at kick off campaigns. There have been union protests at the Courthouse.  All the Union email says is that did not authorize this letter and they do not know who the author is; no comment on the content.

That issue is getting skirted in the discussion.

Here is a suggestion for the Union negotiators. Negotiation does not mean dictating the terms. This is in a comment I replied to in a post below.

County employees got a two percent raise across the board two years ago. They got a one time "bonus" of $700 about a year ago. Now they want more raises. There is a difference between someone making $150,000 and someone making $30,000 a year. If unions are for working class, they could ask for raises for people making less than $30,000 and not ask for raises for those making $100, 000 or more. Two percent adds up.

According to the local website, this is who they represent:

The Humboldt County Public Employees Association was organized August 10, 1945 with one hundred employees. Chartered by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) on June 15, 1966, this affiliation brought the Association into the mainstream of America’s Labor Movement. AFSCME Local 1684 is also affiliated with the AFL-CIO and AFSCME District Council 57. Today we are over 600 strong, representing public employees in Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties.

AFSCME Local 1684 is the certified exclusive representative for employees of the County of Humboldt in white collar, blue collar, supervisory, and professional bargaining units; and non-management and non-confidential employees of the Humboldt County Superior Court, and Humboldt Transit Authority, and the Del Norte County Court Reporters. Over 400 job classifications are represented.

Funny, I do not see the Union advocating for the employees of the Humboldt Superior Court.  didn't see them bring to light some of the facts that I did about Humboldt County Superior Court.

This is from a post I did on the Humboldt courts.

This is from February 2015.

Highlights from the above link:

Staff Impacts / Furloughs / Layoffs / Unfilled Vacancies  Humboldt Court has an 8% vacancy rate.  We eliminated 36% of mid level management and management positions since 2009.  In 2010 we did not fill the management position over Family Law/Juvenile and assigned the function to the manager responsible for Civil/Appeals.  We have not provided cost of living adjustments since FY 2008- 09.  Pay equity gaps between the classifications are making it difficult to recruit and retain employees.

Aren't unions supposed to be about worker's rights?
