Individual jurors being questioned in lead case for Widmark brothers, if convicted they face life sentences

(Brandon Widmark)

(Jesse Widmark)

I was the first to report in December 2024 from live court coverage that the People are seeking life sentences for Brandon Widmark and Jesse Widmark.

Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for the lead case currently on trial.Ms. Andrea Sulivan is Jesse Widmark's attorney. Ms. Rebecca Linkous is Brandon Widmark's attorney. Previously, the People had indicated after this trial, other cases may resolve.

The lead case has been assigned to Judge Steven Steward. Individual jurors are being questioned today.

On 1/29, trial was confirmed. Jesse Widmark had requested a Marsden motion. He changed his mind on 1/29 to say he is not requesting the motion "at this time but may after a conversation " with Ms. Sullivan. Brains and the Widmark brothers are like oil and water. If Jesse Widmark is stupid enough to go for a Marsden motion, which will be denied, he might as give up and go to prison now because he is not going to find another attorney like Ms. Sullivan.

1/29 court minutes:

2/3/25 court minutes:

2/4/25 court minutes:

On 2/5 and 2/6 , after questioning of individual jurors was completed, there was jury selection and rulings on motions in limine. On 2/6, the People filed an amended information. It is not in e court yet and still was not as of 2/10. I asked Mr. Rees and the only change to is the correct name of the victim in the hit and run charge in  Count 11cto Shawn Gallagher. I covered the civil case Gallagher filed against Brandon Widmark. That case was dismissed.
