Sheriff Downey is pleased to announce the swearing in of (2) two new Humboldt County Deputy Sheriff’s. The two new deputies are Eric Masaki from Eureka and Andrea Sherrod from Arcata. Both new employees are recent graduates of the College of the Redwoods Police Academy.
With the swearing in of these two new deputies the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office currently has a total of (7) seven new deputies in the field training program. Two (2) additional deputies are currently scheduled to be hired on August 31, 2015.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is currently in the testing process with Humboldt County Human Resources (HCHR) to fill an additional (8) eight more Deputy Sheriff’s openings. Over 100 applicants are vying for these (8) open positions.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently working with HCHR in the testing process to fill (17) open Correctional Deputy positions in the Correctional Facility. There are currently (4) four new Correctional Deputies in the Field Training program.
The Sheriff’s Office currently has an opening for a Senior Correctional Deputy position and a Supervising Correctional Deputy position that will be filled in the near future.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently working with HCHR in the testing process to fill (4) four open Public Safety Dispatcher positions
Two Community Services Officers have been given formal job offers and will be hired on August 31, 2015. Two more Community Service Officers are currently in background.
The Sheriff’s Office in the near future will have recruitment for an Animal Control Facilities Manager.
