Larry O. Doss, president of a countywide real estate firm, has filed candidacy papers for the District One seat on the Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation & Conservation District board of commissioners. Election day is November 3.
About the Harbor District, Doss says, “The District’s debt is too great and we must get our harbor working. As your commissioner, I’ll focus on working with the board to create a strategic plan to bring new jobs and revenue to the harbor. A successful job strategy will help the county’s economy and will allow the District to enhance its recreation and conservation programs.”
He added that the Harbor Board has not posted minutes of its meetings on its website since August, 2013. “This is no way to run a public business. The Board needs to communicate with the citizens it was elected to serve.”
Doss has headed Ming Tree Realtors since 1995. He has served on the Humboldt Bay Fire District board of directors and is past president of the Humboldt Association of Realtors. He has lived in Humboldt County since age four and went through local schools and the College of the Redwoods. He and his wife, Cassandra, live in Eureka with their college student sons, Thomas and Foster, and daughter Laurel, a Sixth Grader.
