Throughout this campaign, two candidates have regularly kept in touch with me, listened to feedback even though I do not live in their Eureka Wards and cannot vote for them. Janelle Jackson and Jason McCutcheon.
Jason posted today and these are heartfelt messages. In Ward 1 and in Eureka City Council in general, Jason is the voice of hardworking men and women who work with their hands, who have something better than a college degree; life experience and who are involved in their community like Jason coaching and mentoring youth. My college degree is not why I succeed. My skills are self taught in the field and my community involvement is what I enjoy. Jason, like Janelle, is local and invested in this community. I have spoken with Audra Sisson as well, another candidate for Ward 1. When even she is complimentary about Jason, that speaks volumes. Humboldt and Eureka do not need career politicians; they need Councilmembers who can relate to you and me.
