Biggest drug bust at Cal Poly Humboldt for 40 grams of cocaine

I have reached out to Cal Poly Humboldt Chieg Greg Allen and the Communications Department about a drug bust for 40 grams of cocaine. I believe it is the biggest drug bust any Cal Poly Police Officer has made. You heard it here first.

8:07 a.m.. Former HCSO Deputy Joe Conlin who was also the bailiff for Humboldt Superior Court in Courtroom 1 was the CPH police officer responsible for nabbing the suspect.

9:01 a.m. I am told a press release will be issued.

CPH Police Chief Allen is not in today. Still waiting to hear from Cal Poly Humboldt communications.

11:19 a.m Melissa L Hutsell from Cal Poly Humboldt sent me the press release a few minutes before sending it out to their press list at 11:22. I broke the story, I contacted CPH first and they responded to me first. This is how professionals act unlike certain others in Humboldt who should take note. 

Of course, the suspect is repeat offender Colin Baldridge of Eureka.

Cal Poly Humboldt press release: 

On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., an officer with the Cal Poly Humboldt University Police Department (UPD) was conducting a property check on university-owned land when they observed a vehicle parked on Jackson Ranch Road in an area posted as no parking during nighttime hours.

The officer contacted the vehicle's occupant, who was identified as 46-year-old Colin Baldridge of Eureka. During the contact, the officer determined Baldridge was on felony probation for narcotics sales and subject to a probation search condition requiring him to submit to searches of his person and vehicle.

During the probation search, the officer located approximately 40 grams (about 1½ ounces) of suspected cocaine inside the vehicle. The suspected cocaine was packaged in multiple individual baggies. Officers also located digital scales and packaging materials consistent with the sale of narcotics.

Baldridge was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of possession of narcotics for sale and violation of probation. He is being held without bail.
