Today's morning session of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors started off with a bit of humor.
"No, I am not Supervisor Mark Lovelace," said Board Vice Chair Virginia Bass to laughter from the audience.
Chair Lovelace was running a bit late and Vice Chair Bass ran the meeting. Supervisor Rex Bohn was teasing her and she quipped back, "I can turn that mic off," again laughter, Supervisor Bass then added, "No, I cannot."
Under special presentations, Susan Adams and Sheri Kuslak-Meyer from U C Davis gave a presentation. They talked about a Masters Degree Enrollment program that opened December 23, 2015. It will allow a person with a bachelor's degree in 18 months to get a master's degree and R.N. license.
With the Humboldt School of Nursing closing, this could be a beneficial partnership with Humboldt County, said Ms. Adams.
Ms. Adams is a former Marin County Supervisor. "There is life after elected office."
Ms. Kuslak-Meyer mentioned "one of the prinicipal challenges for students training in the
area is housing."
Michael Scott, Project Director, gave the Board of Supervisors guidelines and process for the money awarded for the adult criminal justice facility. Sheriff Michael Downey, Undersheriff William Honsal, Humboldt Correctional Facility's Lt. Marco Luna and Probation's Bill Damiano were at the morning session.
