"There is a lot of hatred and anger out there for people who are hungry and vulnerable," said Erin Powers Taylor, the first speaker for public comment at this evening's Eureka City Council meeting. "The social media, the hate groups, it's sickening."
She said she wanted to remind Eureka City Council that "it's getting cold out there. At least half of the people living in Palco Marsh are from other parts of Eureka and Humboldt. Instead of telling them what they can't do, say it's a legal camp, tell them what they can do."
She took issue with criminalizing the homeless and denying them batgroom facilities.
Why do homeless people need a place to groom bats? I've never even seen a homeless person with a bat, unless it was for softball, baseball, or carried as a weapon,
ReplyDeleteOTOH, a place to groom dogs I could undetstand. Lots of homeless people have dog.
But bats?
