Phil always has a smile, he is even tempered but if you do get him mad, which is rare you better watch out!
WHEREAS, Phil Daastol will be retiring on November 21s', after 32 years ofservice with the Humboldt County Sheriffs Office; and WHEREAS,Phil joined the Sheriffs Office Reserve in 1983; and WHEREAS, Phil joined the Sheriff'sOffice Posse in 1984; and WHEREAS, Phil was hired as a Patrol Deputy on November 3,d, 1985; and WHEREAS, Phil was transferred toBoating Safety on July I", 1989. where he applied 20 years of knowledge gained from his service inthe U.S. Coast Guard; and WHEREAS, on February 8lh, 1989, Phil was elected to the office of Northern Regional Director by 300 Boating Safety professionals belonging tothe California Boating Safety Officers Association; and WHEREAS, Phil was transferred back tothe Patrol Division on January Is', 2013 after 24 %yearsof service as a Boating Deputy;and WHEREAS,Phil was transferred from the Patrol Division to the Sheriffs Court Senices Division on March 31s1. 2013; and WHEREAS, Phil has receivednumerous lettersof gratitude for his search and rescue involvementto includea letterof recognition from U.S. Congressman Mike Thompson and recognition from the Red Cross asa Humboldt Hero in 2003; and WHEREAS, Phil has received letters of appreciation for his service from every law enforcement agency in Humboldt County. NOW,THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVED that the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. Sheriff Mike Downey, and the staff ofthe Humboldt County Sheriffs Office hereby commends and thanks Deputy Phil Daastol for his dedicated 32 years of service to the citizens of HumboldtCountyand wish him and his family a long, productive, and well deserved retirement.
