While Lashay and I were waiting to talk to Ms. Firpo Mr. Russo and Ms. Holmquist to see if tomorrow's motions, when there will be more discussion, would be something we could cover, we found out there was a gag order in the case. The question I asked was not about specifics of the case, but whether the media would be allowed in the courtroom tomorrow. Lashay had a similar question, it was nothing to do with the specifics of the case.
There are some discussions and questions of potential jurors that will be occurring and my understanding from today's court proceedings was that Ms. Holmquist wanted some proceedings in a closed courtroom. It was a follow-up question to her remarks.
Neither Lashay, Ryan and I were aware that a gag order was in effect in this case until we found out this morning. In the Bullock case, Mr. Cockrum asked for the gag order in open court when other rules were set for media.
This morning's proceedings were mostly rulings on motions and court procedure. If the defense requested one, that would have been a good time time to let us know.
