"We talk a lot about what Measure Z is doing for Humboldt County, a lot of what we are doing today is a result of Measure Z"

Right now, HCSO new employees are being sworn in and others being promoted. See flyer above.

Present at the swearing in ceremony are Sheriff Mike Downey, Undersheriff William Honsal, Lt. Marco Luna and Chaplain Andy Van Broese as well as a packed room of loved ones, family members and HCSO staff including retired employees such as Dave Walker. "Quite a group we have here today," said Sheriff Downey referring to the room full of people..

"We talk a lot about what Measure Z is doing for Humboldt County, a lot of what we are doing today is a result of Measure Z," said Sheriff Downey. "It is a long tedious process of hiring and training people."

Supervisor Virginia Bass had another engagement at the same time. Supervisor Rex Bohn attended with a Santa hat.

Brandon Head is currently attending the College of the Redwoods Police Academy and was not able to be at  this ceremony.
