EPD seeks crowbar assault suspect

Help EPD catch this guy.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On March 3rd, 2014, at around 10:17 AM, Eureka Police Department officers were dispatched to a motel on the 1900 Block of Broadway for a reported in progress assault with a weapon.  Witnesses reported a male subject was being attacked by another male with a crowbar on the back (west) side of the motel.

Upon officers' arrival a short time later, the suspect had fled the scene with the crowbar still in his possession.  He was last seen running eastbound on West Del Norte Street from Broadway.

Officers located the victim, an adult male, on the premises.  The victim sustained an approximately 1 1/2 “- 2" deep laceration on the crown of his head. He was examined by emergency medical personnel on scene but elected to seek his own treatment elsewhere. His injury did not appear to be life threatening.

The victim told officers he allowed the suspect to stay in his room last night.  When the suspect refused to leave the property the following morning, an altercation ensued between the two in which the suspect struck the victim with the crowbar and then fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his 20’s with blonde or brown hair, a thin build, and approximately 5’ 7” tall.  He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat with an unknown light colored logo on the front, a long sleeved light colored t-shirt under a short-sleeved light colored shirt with darker horizontal stripes (possibly purple), light colored pants (maybe tan or gray), and a purple hooded sweatshirt.  He was carrying a large, green draw-string bag.

The suspect was accompanied by an unknown white female adult in her 20’s known only as “Amber.”  She is usually in the company of two small dogs and may be the suspect’s girlfriend.  The female is only wanted for questioning as a potential witness at this time.

Refer to the attached still images from the motel’s video surveillance system depicting the subjects.

Anyone with information concerning the suspect’s identity and current whereabouts is asked to contact the Eureka Police Department and Officer Crnich at (707) 441-4060 or 441-4044.
