U.S District Court Judge sees through Peter Martin's frivolous lawsuits

Gregory Allen's lawsuit against the City of Arcata was dismissed. Peter Martin isn't running to talk to the press for this one.

Will this mean the end of Peter Martin's ridiculous lawsuits? This one is a double reward. Shows the idiotic causes Martin sues for and Allen's connection with the ACLU, another organization that can make a civil liberty out of any ridiculous claim.

Martin is on the EPIC Board of Directors and in his bio he lists being on the board of directors for the Redwood chapter of the ACLU.

Mad River Union's Kevin Hoover broke the story today. In his, article, he mentions  that Allen is the  president of the Redwood Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union and former director of Humboldt Medical Cannabis Center.

Martin and Allen are also members of the Green Party among their other common interests.

  1. Too bad, because the staff of the City of Arcata decided to, without any public discussion of problems or alternatives, to just close a grass root 420 celebration of pot.... I heard they crowd was a pain, that there were good reasons... but in light of legalization and all I think the city will look short sighted and foolish declaring that the Arcata police department has reserved 420 for every year in perpituity....and closed the park. These are things that are supposed to happen in the open, with discussion, with public comment. The City of Arcata was run by a former police officer.. and he ran the city like police often do.. as officer, judge, jury.... Is that the town we want? When we do speak to the city council they limit it to 3 min...... and then some interupt at 2.5 min to say.. "your time is running out".... One great observer of politics around here has mastered "quick speak". My observation after serving a year on the HDRC, and a year on the Grand Jury, in part investigating Arcata is the city staff (who have been there for 15+ years), think public comment and participation is not to be allowed. Look at the committees and commissions.. look at the vacancies... look at Kash Boodjeh's silent protest concerning the missing 30 million in general fund reserves and an attempt at affordable housing using redevelopment funds... If the citizens don't participate in these blogs, or local meetings they will find they have less and less input.... Go watch a meeting, or comment in the papers.. This is your community, not the property of the hired staff... protecting their jobs....

    1. Mr. Delany, I agree with you about citizens being involved, watching meetings, getting first hand information.

The three minute limit is necessary. If we allowed unlimited discussion, any one person would hog all the time and no business would get done.
