"He didn't check much on his passengers. The thing that will forever stand out in my head is that the scene was absolutely silent"

More from the eyewitness in the previous post:

"Everyone who stopped gave statements, but none of us could get to the accident. It was extremely difficult.

The car went off the side of the road, they were driving about 50 mph. We saw the car crash into a tree. The way that the car hit the tree, the front passenger didn't stand a chance as that was the side that impacted the tree. We never saw the front passenger move.  Upon arrival at the accident, it was evident that the passengers were not wearing seatbelts. The rear passenger was hanging half way out of a window and moving.. But later became still. The driver was very awake, and was able to half way exit the car a few different times. He obviously sustained minor injuries. He was yelling things, but it was hard to understand what exactly. It definitely appeared like he was trying to exit and run from the car, based on his body language. He didn't check much on his passengers. The thing that will forever stand out in my head is that the scene was absolutely silent. Besides the noises of the cars on 101, there were no screams or moans. Just Mr. Morris yelling incoherent things.  By this time, a group of people had stopped- about 8 I think. A few had been driving behind Mr. Morris and had called in his erratic driving earlier.  Unfortunately, from the time 911 was called, it took roughly 12-15 minutes for the first res ponders to arrive. It was so frustrating, just standing on the side of the road waiting. We even saw ambulances driving north on 101, and they didn't stop for us. We later learned from the news that 2 accidents had happened at the same time. When the first responders did arrive, they were very impressive to watch. They did a fantastic job of helping the most gravely injured, even though we were aware there wasn't much hope. We witnessed them using the jaws of life and attempting CPR on the front passenger. We left after that. I later learned that Mr. Morris suffered minor injuries, although his passengers suffered fatal ones. "
