Could the special assignment in Bullock be an attempt to get Bullock's juvenile records or a retired Judge to hear the case

Judge Christopher Wilson hears Family Law cases, occasionally criminal. The DA has subpoenaed Bullock's medical records, probably to see if there is a history of mental illness. There have been unsubtantiated rumors that as a child Bullock had some behavior that would explain the way he killed and tortured Fr. Eric.

Perhaps, the DA is trying to obtain Juvenile records for Bullock. Judge Wilson could hear a 827 petition.  Juvenile records have a high level of confidentiality. No one is supposed to know them. They would not be calendared in People v. Bullock. They would be a separate filing.

A local attorney with experience in high profile cases said this might be one explaination. He agreed that with a gag order it is hard to guess what kind of hearing this could be.

  1. They are most certainly unsubstantiated rumors (you will find that out later). Keep your guessing game going...

  2. You have made two comments now, the one that got deleted about the DA and now this one. I report facts stated in court. Whether the rumor about Bullock is true or not is not something you can back by facts. One instance does not make anything a guessing game. You seem to have an opinion on this case based on what?

  4. John,

I have read all your work on this case! Thanks for keeping us posted... I live in Southern California and have tried to pay special attention to this matter!

Thanks for deleting my posts (I prefer to stay out of the spotlight)

    Best regards

    1. Too late to avoid the spotlight! I published your comments before your getting last email. Thanks for following the case. I do understand that if you have know Bullock that you have a personal insight into the case. Few people privately or otherwise have commented on two different Bullocks.

He has more of a chance to get a fair jury pool here where there are people "off the grid" and don't have internet or TV than he does in another place where more people watch online and TV and internet. There is also sufficient anti-religious and Catholic sentiment locally to ensure a good jury.

Our opinions are just that, there are legal procedures which determine a fair trial. Look forward to your comments, private or public.

Only one comment got deleted and it wasn't intentional.

  5. I may be wrong but with a venue change it would mean another place that has demographics similar to Humboldt... Meaning it would never be held here in Orange County or even in the Bay area.

I politely disagree with you in that everyone in that area has heard about this case regardless of TV/Internet. I believe if you took a poll with 100 people that would actually qualify for "jury duty", they know about what happened on New Years day, and have an opinion on the matter.

That would not be the case in Lake County or Kings County....

    1. Diversity of opinions and freedom of speech is the beauty of living here in the United States. Gary Lee Bullock is not the only one with rights. In all the coverage, it is important to remember that an innocent life was taken. There is the victim's family and others who were affected and are Fr. Eric's family.

There is more than one victim in this case. Had the lit cigar and the gas burners that were turned on, there would have been many lives lost, not to mention the destruction of a historical and sacred place.

Rights and a fair trial apply to both parties in this case.
