Brutal attack on Dorothy Ulrich captured on audio minutes before Jason Warren is identified by law enforcement leaving her house on surveillance camera

This is what Mr. Sequeira said in his opening statement, "The video IDs him as the killer, the audio IDs him as the killer, the fibers ID him as the killer, the glass IDs him as the killer, the DNA IDs him as the killer."

As the People's witnesses are taking the stand, evidence and testimony presented by the People is reiterating this statement.

This morning's testimony in the Jason Warren trial was by former Hoopa Tribe's Chief of Police, Robert Kane, Sr. and lead investigator in Dorothy Ulrich's homicide, HCSO's Detective Cheryl Franco.

Mr. Kane Sr, testified that when he watched the surveillance video from the Ulrich residence, the person he saw leaving the scene around 4:30 a.m. that morning was someone he was familiar with since "his teens." He said the resolution on the image that he viewed with other law enforcement on Sept 27, 2012 had better resolution and clearer images than the one shown in court. As he watched the make subject leave, he said he blurted out "that it was Jason Warren."

Detective Franco's testimony took up most of the morning, she is still on the witness stand being questioned by Mr. Paul Sequeira. When the jury returns for the afternoon, they will hear the entire audio played that recorded the brutal attack on Ulrich, between 4:21 a.m and 4:25 a.m. on September 27, 2012.

A portion of that audio were played during Mr. Sequeira's opening statement, where Dorothy Ulrich can be heard begging for her life. That select portion from the opening statement is:

On the audio, you heard silence and then Ulrich's voice, "Oww, Oww. What are you doing?" You hear sounds like a thud. Please stop, Please stop, Jason, stop you are hurting me. What are you doing? Jason, stop,  Jason, please, stop, what are you doing? Jason, please, stop it." You hear whacking sounds. "Jason, aah, Jason, I can't do this, oww, "  You hear a man's voice say what sounds like be quiet. "Oww the silence."

Detective Franco said that she counted approximately "59 to 65" times she heard a whacking or thud like sound during the attack.

Today as Detective Franco took the stand, she went into details of interviewing witnesses, assigning tasks, listening and watching audio and video surveillance from September 26 and September 27 from the Ulrich security system. This took her 11 days. Stating specific times and details, she testified to the movements and observations about Ulrich and Warren. At 11;09 p.m. Warren is heard talking to someone on the phone saying "he is bored."

There were two stipulations filed in court this morning. In one, the prosecution and defense agreed that the chain of events regarding the DVR taken from Ulrich's security system, the chain of custody to the preparation of video shown in court. The second one is about the audio of the attack which was sent to the FBI to enhance clarity.

In additional names mentioned by Detective Franco about who she spoke with, Warren's wife Ti-san-che Lincoln's name came up for the first time. She was detained when Warren was arrested driving away in her truck. Her cell phone was in the truck. A forensic download revealed incoming and missed calls from Eddier Koch's number on September 27, 2012. Koch's residence is where Warren went after allegedly abandoning the KIA on California Street. Lincoln, at the preliminary hearing for Warren identifies his voice on the audio during the attack on Ulrich.
