County to provide additional money towards Reentry Resource Center which will cost 21.5 million

Project will take three to five years. Cost 21.5 million, state funding was 20 million.

CAO, HCSO, Probation, Mental Health and Public Works all colloborated on this project.

Current probation facility will be relocated to this new facility.
Probation representative  said they realized reentry services were "a crucial part missing in our community." This was a quote from Shaun Brenneman, Division Director of Adult Services.

All these resources will come under one roof, said Sheriff Mike Downey. "This is not a quick fix, but step in the right direction. We will see fruits in four to six years."

Not just for those incarcerated but also those on court supervised probation.

Humboldt County CAO Phillip Smith-Hanes said that what sold the state was that "this is a great multi use facility, opportunity to preserve parking, have secure beds and programs under one roof."

The business community is very supportive of these efforts, said Sheriff Downey and Supervisor Rex Bohn.
