Baykeeper, EPIC, Richard Salzman et al silent on environmental concerns of mega grows, only Ehresman talks the talk and walks the walk

Dan Ehresman, the executive director of the Northcoast Environmental Center is the only one who has spoken out about the environmental concerns of mega grows and raised it in relation to the California Cannabis Voice Humboldt Ordinance.

Where are the rest of the local environmental groups like Baykeeper, EPIC or local champion of the working folk Richard Salzman?

This morning, I received the following email from Tuluwat Examiner : "FYI  Baykeeper is a project of the NEC and EPIC is a member group of the NEC. also EPIC has a my word ready to run on mega grows in the TS next Tuesday"

I appreciate the Tuluwat Examiner's information. However, it should not be TE's job to speak for any of the member groups that belong to the North Coast Environmental Center. These groups have protested other efforts to bring jobs in the area, sued other groups, yet now they are silent. Why not more of them speaking up?

It is under the reign of elected officials such as Paul Gallegos supported by members of the groups I mention that mega growers got a pass. Now that support is backfiring. Could it be that the same people do not want to bite the hands that feeds them?

Other than Lost Coast Outpost articles and commenters as well as Redheaded Blackbelt commenters raising the issue that out of county interests and out of state interests are backing legislation, where is the investigative money trial by our local media?

  1. I might add where are conservative leaders warning about the social ills and costs of legalization?

Everyone wants their piece of the pie and the commons will be the lessor for it.

I think EPIC has been proven to be in cahoots with Weed Inc.

    1. Jon, instead of answering the wuestion, you skirt the issue as liberals always do with a blanket statement of what have conservatives done. This post is about the hypocrisy of liberals that protest Richardson Grove and Marina Center but the same liberals are silent on weed. You, Jon, will never face the fact that Salzman et all are silent when it is convenient.

There is no dialogue with you. To you, all conservatives are bad, liberals good. I call people out regardless of political affiliation. I will not answer someone like you that does not bother to read, research or acknowledge the failure of people you support. You need to blog less, read, research and post something besides cut n paste on blogs. As I have pointed out before, it is people who create jobs out of their own investment that pay taxes that pay your salary as a government employee.

And it is interesting to note that the people called out have yet to stand up to the big players growing weed. You dont get to criticize corporations and stay silent on weed greed.

    2. Agreed, the silence on this is deafening.

But " ...you skirt the issue as liberals always do" also shuts down the conversation. Is this really a liberal/conservative issue (I realize you all have past issues) or a hipocracy of money issue?

Finally, thanks on keeping this alive and in the spotlight, John.

  3. Uh, no, the predatory litigious "Baykeeper' (which spell-check wants to spell as Barkeeper) was the spawn (a project) of ERF (the Ecological Rights Foundation), started with the go-away money from one of ERFs predatory lawsuits.

They had lots of it, too, enough for a fancy boat and a prominent Old Town Office location, enough for fancy graphics, and expensive signs.

Professing to care about the environment, these groups, EPIC, ERF and "Baykeeper" are nothing more than a lawsuit factory. Singleton in a green dress.

They also use good, well-meaning kayakers and nature lovers as cover. But it's all about the money.
