Today's EPD ceremony belongs to heroes, not shadowy cowards who only contribute hate

The Eureka Police Department is holding a promotional ceremony today at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony is to commemorate the promotions of two Captains, two Sergeants, a Communications Supervisor, and a Support Services Manager.  The ceremony is being held at the Wharfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka.

The invitation was only sent to media as standard procedure but someone leaked the information out to an anonymous blog. There was a call for protestors to show up. Will they?

An agenda item about a claim from Daren Borges family was posted on the same anonymous blog before it was posted to the public or sent out to the media.

This used to happen with another anonymous blog when Larry Glass was in office. When Occupy Eureka was protesting, did someone tip them off regarding police plans?

So who is leaking information they are not supposed to anonymous people with an anti-police and anti city agenda?

Today is not about shadowy attacks by people who do not have the guts to show their faces or sign their names and it is not about those who do not have the courage to fight for the freedom for others, even those who disagree.

This ceremony belongs to the brave men and women being honored today and their families.

  1. Come on Mr. Chiv... you can say it: The Tuluwat Examiner.

And the former anonymous blog... again Mr. Chiv work with me... Humboldt Herald.

    Feel better?

Sorry your penchant for secrecy for public agencies was wounded. That's Democracy for you.

    1. MOLA see you can comment on my blog. The very first comment I received from you.

I am fine with demcocracy, it is cowardice that I am allergic to so you saying the names is better for my health.

Still wondering who leaks the information. That secret is okay with you?

    2. And I thank you for letting me post on your blog. Good on you.

The Tuluwat Examiner doesn't seem to have a problem saying your name. I suggest that in a dysfunctional relationship it is always better to be the adult.

What was secret about a public promotion ceremony?

Or an item for a public governing body being released days (gasp!) before someone bothered to print out the agenda? You of all people should know any public agency agenda item is public the second it is submitted.

Considering everything that is going on... the less secrets the better for everyone. But I guess that is the liberal in me talking.

And I think the word "Coward" is a bit strong of a word for people who just want truth and justice. Isn't that what we are all about? Even when that truth and justice (or the process therein) may be disagreeable to confront?

There are plenty of things worth getting hot and bothered about... like a death that's not quite kosher or out of control drug and drug related crime problems while the EPD wastes time, energy and resources on kids riding bicycles on the side walk and shopping cart czars.

And perhaps I am bothered that a very useful blog has turned itself into another conservative mouthpiece. You had something good going for the community and you gave up on it because the praise you got from certain quarters meant more to you than what you got out of being a relatively unbiased reporter on our courts.

I hope you someday find your back.

Again, thank you for letting me say my peace on your blog.

    3. MOLA, I use my name. Use yours. Do you know me? That is a rhetorical question. Responding to your opinion is pointless because you made a snap judgement.

You know nothing about me or what I do or what I contribute. Your opinion and that of a small group of people who only provoke hate and dissent matters only to your internal groupies.

I do this blog, not for you, not for anyone but real people who call me and email me. The "media" has increased both their local business profiles and court reporting since my blog.

I don't need to find anything. I have contributed both my own time and money to get the public information.

Once again, you avoided the real questions. If after this comment, all you got is snide remarks and insults, go where you have unlimited soapbox.

Measure R failed and Measure Q passed.
TE and the same few commenters supported Measure R and were against Q. So what the TE or you think is irrelevant, even when liberal voters came out to vote.

    4. Sorry Mr. Chiv.

I thought I did answer the questions posed. And I thought we were able to talk. Perhaps I was in error on both counts.

I don't know you... I don't want to. I know your works. That is far more important to me.

Who I am matters nothing except for my works. My name is a mere detail I choose to keep to myself to preserve my privacy. If someone were to "unmask" me tomorrow it would matter nothing to the quality of my thoughts and my words.

As for being hateful... some folks are. Please don't confuse me with the staff and other commentators of the Tuluwat Examiner... we agree on a lot of things but not when the TE calls people dumb asses (and other juvenile terms). I think all along I have been fair with you... if not a bit tough. There was a time when you understood that.

It's your blog... if the direction you have chosen works for you it's not for me to tell you to do otherwise. I was just expressing that I missed what you had chosen to be and do not welcome what you have become.

As to relevance... that is relevant.

    5. I've got to agree with John on this. The anonymity is very problematic.

  4. MOLA, I use to enjoy your column in TE even if I disagreed.

MOLA, if you were calling out the media who get paid but do nothing in the way of reporting unless it is profitable. They don't even creditt me when they do stories after I have been covering them and take portions out of my information and repackage them as original news. People notice and tell me this.

They sit at desks, most of the time, getting press releases or calling to get a story. Investigation is not stringing reports together.

Truth and justice is not vilifying officers without a proper investigation and process.

Lynching the police in media, especially blogs, is not a process that is fair. Would you like to be tried in the blogs instead of the proper channels?

I am conservative, proud of it. I would be moderate anywhere else in the country. When the local media stops their liberal bias and reports news objectively, they can claim to be news media, not a propaganda tool for certain interests, who also with money.

That is a fact that is not accepted by liberals. I walk everywhere, I live on a strict budget yet you attack me of being a mouthpiece?

No one owns me MOLA. Otherwise, I would be rich, not poor.
