Last Friday, on 10/31/25, in Goat Rock Ranch and Mercer Fraser vs Chalk Mountain Ranch and Brandon Barnwell, there was a hearing on the motion for preliminary injunction requested by Mercer Fraser.
Attorneys presented arguments to Humboldt Superior Court Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning who took the matter under submission and will issue a written ruling. Mark Harrison and Sabrina Barr for Goat Rock Ranch and Mercer Fraser, Allison Jackson for Chalk Mountain Ranch and Brandon Barnwell.
Before arguments, Mr. Harrison claimed he hadnt received October 16 filings from Ms. Jackson. She responded, "yes you did, you filed an objection." Even Mr. Harrison's associate agreed.
Ms. Jackson stated in court, Mercer Fraser "threaten to bankrupt my clients."
Same Humboldt story. Larger company hangs out with local politicos and the good ole boys and is used to getting their way. Local bullies don't like it when people stand up to them. At least, the Barnwells can afford Ms. Jackson. Think about others who cannot afford a lawyer or who lawyers won't represent in Humboldt out of fear.
There is a Case Management Conference on 2/9/26.
Most people read the blog and my coverage on other platforms daily; for others, links to previous coverage has been provided which includes court documents.
