The County's out of town law firm screwed up; then County employees and management amplified their mistake; I posted what I was provided and the County's screwups are not my problem

 

At 9:21 a.m. I responded to Cati. My cell phone is in the email so I am posting my response with that sentence redacted. "Let me look into it and discuss it with my lawyer. I am not near a computer right now and have some stuff to take care of this morning and today but yes I will call you from (my cell phone). I only see two employees' names, Tracy and Kayleigh. I am not sure what their concern is, it only says Supervisor Bushnell is to communicate with them. It does not imply they are the ones making the allegations. "

Between 9:13 a.m. and 10:52 a.m. I have received four emails from Humboldt County CAO's office. As you can see Cati and Zach were respectful. To Elishia, since you said I can call you that instead of Ms. Hayes; I do not work for you so don't make demands of me. Also, unlike you and these employees; I don't have the luxury of taxpayers paying me. I work very hard, doing the job of several people and at an extremely busy time with personal stuff I have to take care of, I don't appreciate you and said employees pressuring me and demanding anything. I told Cati, I need to think about this and consult with lawyers. I don't have County Counsel or private attorneys at my beck and call nor can I afford lawyers when I am impeded constantly by the good ole boy nonsense interrupting my work and most in Humboldt too cheap to pay for my hard work. 

In the first email, Cati gave me her personal cell phone so I cropped that email. I included my response to Cati. I have not responded to Elishia Hayes or Zach O'Hanen. I am going to on the blog and Facebook because the readers and public deserve transparency.

I followed proper procedure with the PRA. It is not my problem that Liebert, Cassidy and Whitmore screwed up and sent me a document they should not have disclosed. Nothing in what I posted indicated the two employees were the ones that made the complaints. By them running to the County management like whiners and asking me to remove their names; they are the ones who have created stress for themselves. I said I wanted time to talk to my lawyers. Other local media can do what they want but my readers know I am the one local media who no one controls.

I did nothing wrong. The County has been sent a notice about potential litigation from Supervisor Bushnell. Their screwups are not my problem.

At 2:02 p.m., I received this email from a reader.

"John,

Saw your recent article where you have been approached by County staff. I have tremendous respect for you and stand your ground." I have also spoken with several people. Thank you for your support.

I did not name or claim that any of the employees in the email posted. Lost Coast Outpost in their 1:57 p.m. article used the word "limit communication with her accusers."

At 3:10 p.m. the County is now unsubscribing me from all the County emails.

I leave it to readers to draw their own conclusions. On 11/7/25, I put in a PRA regarding these unsubscriptions.

At 3:39 p.m. I received another email from Savanna Jefferson. There were two items. I am including an additional letter they sent to Harland Law Firm.

On November 13, I received this response to my PRA which I requested via the web on November 7.
