Not even a year in business, the Grind Cafe is going through an ownership change
Wonder if the Siren Song is going through ownership change as well? I don't blame the staff. This place has been closed a lot due to staffing. I no longer go there because the owner, if it still JD Pegg, his actions in the last year show he does not care for customers or support his staff.

The jail released this convicted sex offender who has been arrested multiple times on O.R. for a felony charge
Convicted sex offender Randy Knopf was arrested again yesterday, by EPD for PC 290.013(a), failure to register; specifically about change of address. The jail released him on O.R. despite this being a felony.
Knopf has been arrested several times, he has been in jail, served time in prison, he has been arrested many times for failure to register and has multiple violations of probation. Humboldt Superior Court Judges refuse to send him to prison where he belongs.
It is a waste of law enforcement resources and Knopf is a predator who will never change because there are no consequences. Knopf is arrested so often, I just use the most recent booking photo.

The City of Eureka is very prompt in responding. Thanks to City Manager Miles Slattery and City Clerk Pam Powell but most of all to Kristen Raymond from the Housing Division in the Finance Department.
Humboldt County agendas in the last few months had information about partnering with the City of Eureka regarding funds. Like most County agendas, they give me a headache they way they are written. City of Eureka agenda's are easier to follow. The County could also follow the City of Eureka's example in prompt response and responding to all inquiries.

"Hey John Chiv, I wouldn't run you over"
I am sure there are people locally who would run me over and want to but the person who said this patiently waited for me to cross the street. It was a green light. There are a few considerate pedestrians left in Eureka. I encounter them and always wave and thank them.
The moment I heard my full name, I knew who it was; I stopped and asked Eureka Councilmember Kim Bergel how she was doing. She was at the busy intersection of 4th and I and most people do not extend the courtesy.
She pulled over briefly where there is a parking lot for a minute and we had a safe, quick, polite chat.
