Convicted murderer Billy Joe Giddings could be resentenced due to change in CA law
Billy Joe Giddings was convicted of second degree murder of Trevor Mark Harrison in 2017. In 2018, there was a change in the law about firearm enhancement. The First Apellate District has sent the matter back to the trial court to see if Giddings should be resentenced.

When the court doesn't reschedule intervention, guess both parties will duke it out at the preliminary hearing
After intervention yesterday, Jacquelyn Bradley's preliminary hearing scheduled for July 18 was vacated and reset for August 20. At direction of the court, no further intervention date was rescheduled.
Bradley allegedly broke into a local police officer's house, hours after she was released from jail. Earlier that day, she had been arrested on a bench warrant.

This afternoon, there is a Franklin hearing/resentencing scheduled for Jacob Charles Steele. He was convicted of second degree murder of Jerry George in 2012. As of today, Steele is not eligible for parole until 2034.

Probation to monitor Kody Marcelli
Kody Marcelli had a review hearing on June 27. He was not present since there is a waiver of personal appearance on file. Probation is monitoring his community service work. Next court date is for his deferred entry of judgement in 2022. On May 16, Marcelli entered a plea in his assault case.

MCSO arrests Yareli Diaz for murder of her infant she had given birth to earlier that day
J. D. Grow delays his commit date and wants to cut time he is in jail
J. D. Grow was to commit to jail on July 6. On March 7, Grow was sentenced by Judge Christopher Wilson to 5 years probation and 180 days in jail. He cannot do time on SWAP and has to register as a sex offender.
This morning, that commit date was vacated. Judge Wilson has referred Grow's case to probation for a supplemental report. Defense is requesting a modification to Grow's sentence asking that he serve weekends in custody and be on electronic monitoring during the week.
Defense and prosecution stipulate to a continue Patrick McTigue's preliminary hearing
Intervention was scheduled for Patrick McTigue on June 25. Preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 27 was vacated. Both the prosecution and defense stipulated to continue intervention to July 9 and preliminary hearing to July 10.

Jason Arreaga, who was acquitted in February 2016 of double homicide charges in Humboldt County, ended up being convicted in Lake County for carjacking, robbery, battery causing serious bodily injury, and unlawfully taking a vehicle and is in prison.

Save Rainbow Ridge protest moves from 4th street to 5th street in front of Courthouse
"Save Rainbow Ridge" was one of the signs.
According to one of members of the group, one protestor was arrested as he chained himself to the "occupied tree." Four others who blocked the gate were detained but were not arrested. According to one of the Save the Rainbow Ridge members outside on 5th street, the protestorwho chained himself to the tree was just brought to the jail. They are here to support their friend and fellow activist.
Desiree Henley is back at the "Humboldt Hilton", again
Desiree Henley arrested on a bench warrant for and booked into the Humboldt County jail again. The warrant was issued for violation of parole for a previous case.

Trial setting was continued to today for Clayton Lasinski and continued again to July 24. Most people have forgotten the original incident. With the time he is spending in jail, by the time there is a jury trial or plea, he may have enough credits towards his sentence.

Woman arrested for arson after police catch her in the act on her own security camera
A feud between two homeowners on Oklahoma led to a woman setting fire to her neighbor's home. The crime was caught on security camera owned by the alleged arsonist.
The woman gave consent to law enforcement to look at look at the password-protected recorded footage.
Bail reduced for Sean Allman, conditions placed if he is released from custody and more details about why he was arrested
Mr. Ben Okin made a special appearance with Sean Allman this afternoon. He has not been retained by the family yet.
Mr. Okin requested bail be set per schedule at $50,000. He told Judge Kelly Neel that Allman had no prior record.
Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm requested bail be set at $75,000.
