Last week, on second day of jury trial Tory Mamea took a plea. Pleaded guilty to attempted murder and both special allegations. Mamea pleaded guilty as charged except the People agreed to strike premeditation.
The stipulated term is 13 years in prison but it is with a waiver of custody credits. Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm told me that Mamea has almost two years of custody credits. Mamea waiving those credits was crucial to the People accepting resolution because Mamea will not be able to get good conduct credits in prison. This means he serves more time in prison.

Then officer spoke with another resident right in front of the camper van in the trailer park where earlier there was an incident between a man picked up and was banging a rock and screaming at a woman in a U haul. She was causing a disturbance but violence isn't the answer. Then he walked away to the trailer park.

Christian Bautista-Ramirez was arrested by Arcata Police Department yesterday on a warrant. He was booked on four felony charges of PC 288 (a) lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
Bautista-Ramirez posted bail which at booking was $135,000. The arrest warrant was issued on 7/15. Arraignment is scheduled for 8/26.

The latest development in Deputy Conflict Counsel R.J. Leohner lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court is oral argument on September 1, 2022.
The litigation is after Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory-Elvine-Kreis issued six counts of direct contempt and sanctions against Leohner.

He has a 2020 case for failure to register as a sex offender which was dismissed. Vanlier also has a 2019 probation revocation case. Probation was terminated and he got some jail time.

On July 20, 2022, at about 7:20 p.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in the area of Fairway Drive in Eureka located a vehicle wanted by the Eureka Police Department following a pursuit within their jurisdiction earlier in the evening. Deputies attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued through the Pine Hill community.
