"Maybe, just maybe Supervisor Madrone should not use his position to get out of basic things"; reader sends me what was witnessed in the jury room today

I received this tip today at 1:35 p.m.

I recognized the name. I am sure this is a fellow potential juror but wanted to make sure.

I saw Fifth District Supervisor Steve Madrone on the third floor of the Courthouse in the Grind Cafe around lunchtime today. There are at least two jury trials scheduled to begin this week and as I was leaving the Courthouse during lunchtime, I saw a few jurors waiting for the jury room to re-open after lunch break.

I sent an email to Supervisor Madrone, cced Humboldt County CAO Elishia Hayes, asked Supervisor Madrone to respond no later than 6 p.m. today.

Supervisor Madrone responded to me at 3:32 p.m.

"I filed a request for deferral but had not got an answer yet so i did my due diligence and showed up at 8:30 to check in"

"I served a full jury trial last year. They approved a 90 day reschedule today which is offered to everyone if needed"

"I value my jury service"

At 3:38p.m. the reader confirmed what I thought, "fellow juror."
