Thank you to Eureka Mayor Kim Bergel who sent me these three photos from the Ruby Bridges Walk today at Zane Middle School. "This is the 4th year. Students are very involved in the planning. Great turn out this year," said Mayor Bergel. Two of the photos are by Mayor Bergel. The group photo credit is to Aundrea Stuckey -Humboldt BSU Mento.
If you are not familiar with the walk, it is an event that honors civil rights activist Ruby Bridges and encourages students to walk to school while discussing important topics like anti-racism, anti-bullying, and creating positive change. The statewide celebration is recognized by the California State Senate and takes place every November 14th and inspires students to be leaders in their communities.
