Raise your hand if you are shocked there is a bench warrant for a convicted sex offender who failed to register; I am not because in Humboldt there are zero consequences

64 year old convicted sex offender James Michael Timmerman was booked into the Humboldt County jail yesterday on a bench warrant for PC 290.013(a) failure to register as a sex offender but refused by medical.

Maybe if Humboldt judges gave these criminals some consequences which occur frequently enough for repeat offenders, they would take breaking the law seriously.

Timmerman failed to appear on 3/3/25 for his prelim in a 2025 court case for failure to register as a sex offender and a bench warrant was issued by Humboldt Superior Court Judge Kaleb Cockrum. He should have never been granted supervised release by Judge Cockrum in that case on 7/9/25. Timmerman has a conviction in a 2016 DUI case, 2016 conviction for failure to register as a sex offender. 2013 conviction for failure to register as a sex offender. The Megan's Law conviction is from a Humboldt Superior Court case filed in 2004.

3/14/26: Timmerman was arrested by HCSO Deputy J. Hunter and booked on a bench warrant.
