David Orluck charged in second case with three felonies

The Humboldt County District Attorney's Office filed a complaint today for a second case against David Orluck charging him with Count 1 criminal threats, Count 2 attempting to dissaude a witness and Count 3 stalking. Special allegation for Count 2 states that at the time of the commission of that offense Orluck was out of custody on bail or OR. In my previous coverage, I reported Orluck posted bond.

Orluck was arraigned this afternoon. After hearing arguments from Deputy DA Brandon Boozari and Kreis, Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge Wilson denied defense request to release Orluck.

OR bail hearing in the second case is on 8/5.

Orluck hired Gregory Kreis for his first case and Kreis is his attorney for the second case. Preliminary hearing in both cases is scheduled for 8/6.

8/5/26: In CR2603028, Jane Doe addressed court. No bail requested by Deputy DA Carolyn Schaffer granted by Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge Christopher Wilson without prejudice. Orluck was remanded into custody. Defense request for continuance granted; preliminary hearing in this case and CR2602747 rescheduled for 8/31.

8/31/26: Preliminary hearing in both cases continued by defense to 9/2 for potential resolution.

9/2/26: Preliminary hearing continued 9/22 by stipulation. No resolution. New discovery not received yet by the people.
