The day after I did this post on Kyra Kelly, there was a hearing on 6/15 in the lawsuit she filed against Big Oil and Tire. A demurrer was filed by Big Oil Tire.
Humboldt Superior Court Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning sustained the demurrer with leave to amend. There is nothing in court minutes about the 7/13 Case Management Conference case.
At Kelly's request one case was dismissed. Two other cases were duplicates and were dismissed. Even with the dismissals, there are way too many civil cases filed by Kelly.
Maybe she will be convicted in her criminal case but the next court dates are two months away and Humboldt courts do like to drag cases on with continuances.
If you didn't read the June 14 post or past coverage; Google and the search feature on the blog is your friend. You can read about her criminal case and her civil cases.
Kelly who insists on representing herself and has no clue what she is doing wasted the civil department's and my time with the number of civil cases she filed destroyed trees with all the paper she wasted although Humboldt Superior has culpability because they don't offer e filing.
That project as well as e court remote access that had been started under former Humboldt Superior Court CEO Kim Bartleson has just disappeared under current Humboldt Superior Court CEO Meara Hattan who also is a local real estate agent.
7/2/26: Two of her civil cases that had 7/13 dates have been vacated. All her cases are now on 7/20/26 at Kelly's request. She is filed a motion for stay of civil proceedings until the conclusion of her criminal case. Next court date for all her civil cases is 7/20/26.
7/20/26: Motion to stay filed by Kyra Kelly granted by Judge Camning. Humboldt Deputy County Counsel Joel Campbell-Blair did not object to the motion. Eric Kirk who is Pomrehn's attorney not mentioned in court minutes as stating anything about the motion. All cases continued to 1/22/27.
8/21/26: In her 2026 criminal case, Kelly requested a continuance due to additional discovery. There was no objection by Deputy DA Trent Timm & written notice was waived by the DA. Readiness Conference + motion to dismiss scheduled for 10/13/26. Jury trial on 11/9/26.
