The Root Birimisa case is a good example of why Humboldt courts are backlogged all the time

**Birimisa's booking photo which at this point is two years old and I was able to request before the idiotic Ninth Circuit ruling.**

Since 3/12/25, there have been 14  continuances in alleged molestor and rapist Root Birimisa's case because defense wasted time getting him another mental health evaluation at taxpayer's expense which resulted in diddly. I have been adding updates to the last post I did including dates set today. For those who are still interested, Readiness Conference is on 5/14 and jury trial is on 5/26.

This is the kind of nonsense that happens daily including right now for weeks with useless continuances due to the defense or Humboldt judges that results in me checking 20 plus court cases a day; some defendants have multiple cases and I report other news and national news. At least when the Humboldt DA requests a continuance; it is for good cause.

5/14/26: Readiness Conference continued by stipulation to 5/19.

5/19/26: Defense continues Readiness Conference to 5/20 so both Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm and Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps who are currently in another jury trial can talk about this case.

5/20/26: Continued by stipulation since both attorneys in trial. Readiness rescheduled for 8/4; jury trial on 8/17.
