14 people arrested in second search by HCSO this year as a result of search warrant on Aaron Stott's property in Mckinleyville

All these people were arrested with Aaron Stott and booked at the same time on the jail log at 10:24 a.m. Anyone who pays attention to the jail log or local crime headlines will recognize some of the names. I only see 14 names on the jail log.  I contacted HCSO Lt. Jesse Taylor and he confirmed and clarified it was 14 arested; not 15.

On April 26, 2025, patrol deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at a residence located in the 1500 block of Murray Road, McKinleyville. This is the second search for the same house since the new year and has been the source of numerous community complaints in recent years. This search warrant was the direct result of the complaints received. During the search, 15 people were located and arrested.

The homeowner, Aaron Stott (age 46), was charged with the following crimes, H&S 11351: Possession of Fentanyl for sales, H&S 11366(a): Maintaining a drug house, PC 135: Destruction of evidence and PC 12022.1: Committing a Felony while out on bail. Stott was arrested for similar charges in January during the last search of the home. The other 14 occupants of the home were arrested for violations of H&S 11365: Being present where drugs are used/sold. This case will be forwarded to the Humboldt District Attorney's Office for prosecution and to Humboldt County Code Enforcement for other issues located on the property.

The Sheriff’s Office has received numerous community member complaints regarding criminal activity relating to a residence on the 1500 block of Murray Road. On Jan. 25 at about 8:15 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies responded to those complaints by executing a search warrant at the problem residence. 

Upon deputies’ arrival at the location, 14 subjects were detained while the house and vehicles were searched pursuant to the warrant. A large amount of drug paraphernalia and multiple firearms were found within the bedrooms and living areas of the residence. Deputies also located an active marijuana cultivation in a garage attached to the residence. 

The homeowner, Aaron Stott, age 46, of McKinleyville, was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility (HCCF) for operating or maintaining a drug house HS 11366 and cultivating 6+ plants of marijuana HS 11358(c). 

One of the property’s tenants, Dee Shirley, age 71, of McKinleyville, was arrested and booked into HCCF for being a felon in possession of a firearm PC 29800(a)(1), possessing a firearm without ID markings PC 23920(a), and possession of unlawful paraphernalia HS 11364(a).
