City of Arcata invites community to the opening of David Josiah Lawson memorial

City of Arcata just issued a press release inviting the community on June 24 to the opening of the mural in his honor and details about the event.

Please join the family and friends of David Josiah Lawson for the opening of a mural in his honor on Monday, June 24. 

The community is invited to attend a gathering to commemorate David Josiah Lawson with the opening of mural in his honor on the northern side of the D Street Neighborhood Center. The mural incorporates designs from the Lawson family and many local artists and the community is invited to participate in the painting of the mural. Those who are interested in being part of the mural creation should stop by the site on Saturday any time after 9:30 a.m. The opening ceremony of the mural will take place on Monday, June 24 at 6 p.m. The D Street Neighborhood Center is located at the corner of 14th and D streets. The event will include music, food and community building to continue efforts to bring closure for all the families of those missing and murdered.
