Mr. Rick Richmond is a partner in the LA law firm, Larson Law Firm LLP.
Mr. Richmond represented Christie in his 2018 criminal case which resulted in a plea on 12/1/2023. I was the first person and the only one to report on the plea. It was done with no notice to the media or public at what was supposed to be an intervention. The case was assigned to former, ousted Judge Gregory Kreis but I was told Retired Judge Christopher Wilson assisted with the plea.
I have written more than once that the DA agreed to the plea to avoid the more mistakes made by the DA's office in 2018 and HCSO which would have come forward in a retrial. You can read about that in court documents and my prior coverage specifically paying attention to former HCSO deputy Travis Mendes and former Humboldt Deputy DA Adrian Kamada who then went over to the Public Defender's office.
On 1/29/25, Visiting Judge Ksenia Tsenin granted the defense PC 1203.4 motion which expunged Christie's criminal conviction. The People submitted with opposition.
Both, former Humboldt Deputy DA and now Humboldt Superior Court Judge Steven Steward and Deputy DA Roger Rees who ended up with the case had to clean up Kamada's mess and take the brunt for the Kamada and Mendes' failures.
In one of my past posts, I wrote that Mendes had cowboy envy. Before I blocked his account, these are photos I took from his Facebook on August 10, 2025. Travis Mendes used to be a livestock deputy. Those who read my past coverage on Ray Christie know the significance of the auction yard, the livestock reference and these photos.
Travis Mendes is now working for CALFire.
I have done many posts on Christie, including his 2018 criminal case and many exclusives. I am not going to link them; they can be accessed via the search feature on the blog.
