Alabama native Peter Samuel Triantos identified as victim in Arcata homicide


The Humboldt County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide occurring in Arcata on Oct. 25, 2018 as that of 26-year-old Peter Samuel Triantos.

Convicted felon sits on porch with loaded firearm after allegedly brandishing the firearm at a neighbor



On July 29, 2018, at about 7 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on the 1800 block of Buhne Street in King Salmon for the report of a man brandishing a firearm and making criminal threats to a neighbor.

GPS tracker results in stolen vehicle from Fortuna being located in real time




On June 13, 2018, at about 2:30 a.m., the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received information that a vehicle stolen from a Fortuna business was on Apple Lane in Redway. The stolen vehicle was outfitted with an owner-installed GPS tracker.

The first of three wannabe thieves who attempted an armed robbery to get marijuana and money at a Laytonville home in November 2017 was sentenced to state prison Wednesday morning in the Mendocino County Superior Court.
