Townhall meeting at the Grange in Petrolia with Supervisor Rex Bohn, Undersheriff William Honsal, Public Works Tom Mattson and Measure Z representative

On February 10, a meeting at the Grange in Petrolia, which was going to be about roads has been expanded to address other issues. Supervisor Rex Bohn, Undersheriff William Honsal, Interim County CAO Cheryl Dillingham and Measure Z Representative John Flyer, who was appointed by Supervisor Bohn will also be at the meeting.

Over 500 veterans served at North Coast Stand Down, event "an incredible success"

Allan Dollison described the North Coast Standdown event this weekend as " an incredible success. We served over 500 veterans, and helped provide boots, clothing and eyeglasses to some of the county's truly needy veterans. I especially like that photo with Thomas Whitney (on the left) and myself at the Gideon's Bible station."

Steve Volow of CASA reacts after I took his photo at the CASA Kid Walk

I showed Steve this photo, told him that I was going to use the headline and what he said. After I took this photo and a few others, Steve and the volunteers asked me the name of my site. I introduced myself. Steve quipped, "So you are the infamous John Chiv!" We all laughed and he shook my hand as did others.

Sorry to disappoint my critics but that good natured roast was because Steve and CASA understand the flack I take for some of my coverage, especially the domestic violence and sexual assault and abuse cases.

CASA is a great organization. The CASA Kid Walk is going on until 7 this evening.

Distinguished Gentleman's Ride raises funds for prostate cancer

The Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride is a worldwide event happening on
September 27th "where more than 30,000 "smartly-dressed gentlefolk" in
over 400 cities will straddle the saddles of their café' racers,
bobbers, scramblers and other marvelous custom motorcycles to raise
awareness and help fund the cure for prostate cancer."
