After these photos, all of you who defended that female business owner Rex commented about feel the same outrage?

(On Meredith's Maier's Facebook page and on Rex Bohn's page)

(People who liked Meredith's photo posted above)

This is the emergency Rex Bohn and Michelle Bushnell needed to waste a million of tax payer dollars on? Humboldt's "The Crude and the Crassness" couldn't have taken place at the usual homes and private events with the same cast of characters? Money does not equal class. That is more often then not the case in Humboldt.

You would think People who work in the courts would know who is up for re-election and when

(Judge Killoran 2018 photo from my blog)

(2017 appointment photo )

You would think People who work in the courts would know who is up for re-election and when. I did two posts on Humboldt Superior Court Judges for re-election next year. Everyone seems to be talking about Judge Joyce Hinrichs but she has two more than two years left in her term. I updated one of my previous posts after checking with Humboldt County Office of Elections. There is some new information about procedure I wanted to highlight given the whisperings on the 2nd floor about Judge Joyce Hinrich.

The other day Deputy Conflict Counsel Owen Tipps told a colleague that Judge Hinrichs has an understanding and has expressed a wish that her position be filled via appointment and not election. Judge Hinrichs re-election year is 2026. Later, it was confirmed by someone else that Judge Hinrichs wants her position appointed and stated that a meeting. She may chose to retire early. Is there an arrangement by the Judges and others in the legal community to lobby the legislature? I hope it fails, the last appointment which was Judge Gregory Kreis has been a disaster. The public deserves to elect who we want and not have  special legal interests put someone in with backroom deals.

For the 2024 Election, Humboldt County Superior Court Judge Kreis and Lawrence Killoran are incumbents. Unless someone runs for those positions, they will be re-elected. Unlike Judge Kreis, Judge Killoran was elected.

Inmate qualified to run as candidate for Garberville Fire Protection District

This is breaking news and reported here first. The deadline for candidate filing for the Uniform District Election just closed at 5 p.m. today.  Usually these positions are uncontested. For the first time, there will be an election and it is for one of the positions for the Garberville Fire Protection District. Christopher Brackett is an inmate who is currently in custody at the Humboldt jail. He has qualified to run as a candidate. As long as you live in the area and do not have a felony record, you are eligible.

This is why homelessness will never be fixed in Humboldt

This is just one example of the unkempt houses in Myrtletown. Just drive by or walk from 1300 to 2500 on Myrtle. The houses on Myrtle within the City of Eureka on Myrtle need work but those in the unincorporated area under County jurisdiction are worse. The government does not live on your property or business; you need to maintain it.

Outrageous rents or illegal rentals are rampant on local Facebook, local Craigslist and other online local ads with a lot of scammers. The same people advertising the same places every few months. City of Eureka Code Enforcement is useless and County Enforcement is even worse. There is retaliation if you stand up and ask Humboldt to enforce California housing laws. People are so desperate for housing that people renting privately can rent without a lease or demand payment prohibited by California law. Local lawyers will not touch a lawsuit involving rentals or real estate issues.
