Case against US Forest Service employee dismissed and protective order terminated
Today, instead of his preliminary hearing, the case against U.S. Forest Service employee Matthew Salmon was dismissed by the People. The protective order issued was terminated.
Salmon should thank the Eureka Police Department.
EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell said, "As a result of the complete investigation and the totality of evidence, it was determined that the female’s wounds were consistent with being self-inflicted. The Eureka Police Department forwarded these findings to the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office and the case against Matthew Salmon was dismissed."
Arrests are made, charges are filed and investigation continues beyond the initial arrest and sometimes up to trial. In Salmon's case, charges were dismissed today due to a thorough investigation by EPD. In 99.9 % of the cases, the arrests result in charges which end in a resolution, plea or conviction.

I don't want to move back East but I do miss the food. Pizza, bagels, pretzels, hot dogs, cheesesteak and and the best seafood from Philly to Maine. Specific places in Philly and Boston that would be worth the trip just for a few hours.
Only someone from the East Coast would know the subtle difference between New York style and Jersey Pizza. I do like Paul's but my number one choice if I want authentic East Coast pizza in Humboldt is Dutchy's in Arcata.

Traffic stop in Hoopa results in felon being arrested for loaded firearm and fentanyl

Annie's relocated, no demolition and two restaurant locations up for sale
Annie's previously located on 5th Street moved to Henderson Center. The building has been boarded up wih a New Life Service sign for months. SIP cafe has had a sign for sale for months. After acouple of different local realtors had signs up for sale for years, now Heath Kastner from CBRE has a sign up for retail at the old Sizzler's location.
Subway, Burger King aren't going anywhere. Don't see any signs of Starbucks. Other properties on 4th and 5th near S, near Samoa Bridge have been boarded up and have been for sale for months; years.

Gun violence restraining order for man EPD arrested a month later after HCSO
There was a hearing this afternoon for 34 year old James Albert Leach, Jr and the gun violence restraining order for gun violence issued against him. EPD Sgt. Wayne Rabang filed a request for bail increase and for the TRO to be made permanent.
This afternoon, a two year permanent restraining order was granted.
In addition to that, there have been two criminal cases filed against him, one was handled by HCSO and one by Eureka Police Department.
