Rio Dell Special meeting tomorrow to approve Employment Agreement for Chief of Police Greg Allen and authorized City Manager the agreement.
Rio Dell City Manager Kyle Knopp confirmed it is HCSO's Lt. Greg Allen. Lt. Allen retires from HCSO on August 8 and will be the new Rio Dell Police Chief. Jeff Conner is retiring.

At trial setting for Sarah Carroll and Michael Acosta's case this morning, Trial confirmation was scheduled for February 6; jury trial for February 27. Time Estimate is 2 weeks.

Codi Ronald Owens was arrested by HCSO yesterday for PC 245(a)(2) assault with a firearm, PC 664/187(a) attempted murder, PC 246 shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied car, two counts of PC 29800 (a)(1) felon in possession of a firearm, PC 148.9(a) providing false identification to an officer , PC25850(a), two counts of PC30305(a) felon in possession of ammunition, HS11370.1 (a) possession of a controlled substance while being armed, HS11352(a) transportation or sale of controlled substances and HS 11351 possession for sale of a controlled substance.
HCSO arrested him in 2021 for probation violation as well as drugs and firearms charges. He was also arrested in 2015 by the Fortuna Police Department on drug charges and stolen property.
Roderick Richard Rightmire was arrested yesterday by Cal Poly HSU Police Department for PC 647(e) illegal squatting.
In April 2022, Rightmire was arrested by Eureka Police Department for criminal threats. Rightmire was arrested by EPD in 2012 on a federal warrant.

On July 18th, 2022, the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (HCDTF) served a search warrant on a residence on Cannibal Island Rd. in Loleta for suspected fentanyl sales. The HCDTF had been investigating the resident, Brandi Manjarrez (55 years old), for several weeks for transportation and sales of fentanyl.
Alleged molestor Gary Landergen's preliminary hearing was on calendar today. Landergen is charged with 8 counts. Three alleged victims.
Conflict Counsel filed a last minute motion to continue with an order shortening time. Motion was granted. Preliminary hearing rescheduled for October 4.
Dakota Lebrik was arrested yesterday by Rio Dell Police Department for PC 236 false imprisonment and PC 273.5(a) corporal injury to spouse/cohabitant.
Jerri Rebekah Cardelli was arrested by HCSO early a.m. for VC 23103, reckless driving and VC 10851(a) driving or taking a vehicle without consent.

The Pelorus Fund Reit LLC, a California cannabis lending company is suing Emerald Family Farms and Humboldt Health Care, LLC.

Emerald Family Farms and Humboldt Health Care LLC may not be happy with the rulings but one party in litigation usually isn't.
I did a post last week on convicted felon Cody Christiansen. His OR/bail hearing had been continued 5 times. The Public Defender declared conflict. The Court appointed Mr. Joe Judge.
Christiansen's 7/15 OR/bail hearing was vacated because he was medically unable to appear. It was continued to today. His preliminary hearing was originally scheduled for today but Mr. Judge had a conflict so Ms. Andrea Sullivan was appointed today and the preliminary hearing was continued to 7/20 by the Court.

EPD Crime Analyst Brittany Powell confirmed his identity this morning. "This incident resulted in 24 year old Tavin Evans being arrested for driving while unlicensed and parole violation. "
Deputy District Attorney Steve Steward who was elected as the newest Humboldt Superior Court Judge took some time off from the campaign. He is back in the office.
Julian C BrownSundberg was arrested on June 24 on a Ramey warrant for PC 273(a) (b) child endangerment and PC 422 criminal threats.
The District Attorney only charged him with criminal threats. The alleged victim is his father.
Eureka Police Department took 4th of July suspect Dylan Cody Olivas into custody today on his warrants. He was at the jail for an hour, booked and released on O.R. Olivas was given a court date of August 25.
I checked on the other suspect Joseph Boxell. He has yet to be brought into custody on his warrant for the 4th of July assault.
