Deputy County Counsel hires Roseville firm in his lawsuit against Humboldt Superior Court

Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory-Elvine-Kreis issued six counts of direct contempt and sanctions against Deputy Conflict Counsel R.J. Leohner.

After the Apellate court was considering their own sanctions against Leohner because he made statements under penalty of perjury that were untrue, he is now being represented by a Roseville law firm. Oral argument has been requested by Leohner's lawyer.

I have not seen him at the Courthouse recently.

Jury trial for Sean Allman vacated and to be reset for later date


At trial confirmation this morning for Sean Allman. jury trial currently set for July 25 was vacated. Defense motion to continue was heard today and granted because people had no objection. motion to continue heard and granted without objection.

People have an expert. Defense also intends to have an expert at trial. Trial setting is on 6/29.

Former EPD dispatcher appointed to Advisory Commission on Special Education by Newsom

California Governor Gavin Newsom just issued a press release. "Heather Snipes, 37, of Eureka, has been appointed to the Advisory Commission on Special Education."

Humboldt Fence just celebrated 20 years of being in business. The photo is of their 20th anniversary celebration.

"We are extremely proud to support all of our youth in the community whether it be donations for sports, school activities or scholarships," said Russ Renner.



Scrapper's Edge has been in business for 18 years. That anniversary is on June 24th. I have known owner Sondra Kirtley since she started the business and in the original location on 5th and H. "Scrappers Edge regularly donates time, materials, and money  to youth and art-related causes," said Sondra.

One year probation, no jail time in drug case

At trial assignment last Friday, Ryan Friend resolved his case with a plea and was sentenced. Jury trial for 6/20.

Recently, I had reported on the case about Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin using two letters on my blog to disqualify Judge Timothy Canning.

Two continuances in Little Eagle Moon case, one because subpoenaed officer not present

 


On June 15, convicted felon Little Eagle Moon had pre trial scheduled in his parole case and setting of preliminary hearing and motion for return of property in the case.

Casandra Kress arrested for domestic battery

 


Casandra Kress was arrested by HCSO yesterday for domestic battery. She does not have any prior record in the local court system. Kress posted bail.

Estimated damage $10,000 for structure fire on Walnut Drive

At 11:46 A.M. today three engines, a ladder truck, and Battalion Chief from Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a reported structure fire on the 4400 Block of Walnut Drive. 

Cousins Street suspect preliminary hearing continued twice, both times due to medical reasons

 


Cousins Street suspect Matthew Esparza had his preliminary hearing continued to 6/15 because he was in quarantine.

On 6/15, Esparza was medically unable to appear. 10 day time waiver entered. Preliminary continued to 8/2.

"I'll send some stills of the group earlier but that's the only video of incident.  Second video shows the group of young thugs coming back and turning over his cart a second time. Right in front of music store both times. I ran out each time thinking my windows were being smashed.To be clear I never saw a knife, but I was also not witnessing anything until the cart was toppled."

Natalie Arroyo's lead increases with second post election report

 


Second Post Election Report just released. Natalie Arroyo has 52.88. Stacey Eads, Steve Steward, Steve Madrone and Cheryl Dillingham maintain their leads. Cervantes and Nielsen very close. Michael Acosta, Benjamin Hershberger and Mychal Evenson numbers shrink.

Approximately  9,233 unprocessed ballots as of today 

 



The Humboldt County Office of Elections will continue to post the results of the June 7 Primary Election every Friday leading up to the certification of the election prior to Thursday, July 7. 

The Elections Office has approximately  9,233 unprocessed ballots as of today, Friday June 17.

Ms. Jennifer Hanson, Press Secretary for the Office of State Controller confirmed only the final report regarding Humboldt's 2019-20 FTR will be published.

Humboldt Auditor Controller Karen Paz Dominguez issued an update about the State Controller's office's investigation about the 2019-2020 FTR. The Auditor Controller said she will honor the SCO request for confidentiality until the final report is issued, and will issue a further public comment at that time."

If you read my earlier post about the Melissa Johnson and Von Keener pleas, go back and read details I added after the hearing concluded.

Some of those details were from remarks by Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees. The quote of the hearing goes to Ms. Kathleen Bryson who is Melissa Johnson's attorney. 

That one quote made it worth the hours of endless, laborious waiting in the drama taking place at this hearing and enduring the stuffy, windowless Courthouse which is the den of evil in Humboldt aka hell. The only thing missing is the Neros of Humboldt fiddling while they burn Humboldt to the ground.

After rejecting an offer once, Latham later decided to resolve his case with a plea

 


Today, at trial confirmation, assault suspect Dustin Latham entered a plea and resolved his case. Sentencing is on 7/12.

Looks like Landergen having tough time coming up with money to retain a lawyer


Yesterday,  confirmation of counsel for alleged molestor Gary Landergen was continued for the second time to 6/22. Preliminary date was rescheduled to 7/19. Mr. Zach Curtis has been making special appearances since Landergen has not retained him yet.
