Charley Ray Denwitty was arrested early a.m. by Eureka Police Department for

PC 25800 carrying a loaded firearm in vehicle or public, PC 25400(a)(2) carrying concealed firearm in a vehicle, PC 25850 (a) carrying a loaded firearm in vehicle or public , PC 245 (a) (2) assault with a firearm, PC 273.5 (a) corporal injury to spouse and cohabitant. Bail is $160,000.

HCSO deputies to use smart phone body cameras to record every contact

Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies on patrol throughout the county are now equipped with body worn cameras, allowing them to capture interactions with the public. But these aren’t your typical body worn cameras, they’re smart phones and can do so much more than just record video.

Mental health conditions part of supervised release for Cody Pitzer

 


Yesterday, at the OR/bail hearing for Cody Pitzer, Judge Christopher Wilson granted supervised release over objection by the People. Conditions for release include taking mental health medication. 

Order striking the arrest warrant for Gary Landergen

 


Fortuna High School Teacher Gary Landergen is scheduled to be arraigned on May 25. I checked his case today. Saw there was an order striking the arrest warrant.

I have reached out to the DA's office with a few questions and will be adding those questions with responses. Did Fortuna PD  screw up the arrest warrant? Or is there a significant development in this case? The file had already been sent up to the Judge.

$1.75 Million in Cal/OSHA citations for safety violations in death of worker at Valero Refinery

 


The Cal/OSHA Process Safety Management Unit has cited Valero Refinery of Benicia and three contractors a combined $1,753,375 for serious safety violations following a confined space death of a 35-year-old worker who suffocated in a regenerator overflow well.

Judge Wilson grants release for Myers Flat woman charged with DUI and battery on an officer

 

Devon Hanson of Myers Flat who is charged with 6 counts in her DUI and battery on a custodial officer case was granted supervised release yesterday by Judge Christopher Wilson.

DA tells Little Eagle Moon you can have the car you rammed into the Red Lion and patrol vehicles

 


Yesterday, convicted felon Little Eagle Moon pre trial in his parole case and setting of preliminary hearing and motion for return of property was continued to 6/15. 

"Last night during the debate, Ms. Eads said his trial win rate was 33%. He said she was lying. I think the public should be able to decide for themselves. "

Deputy informs guy from Alaska dumping firewood is illegal and he has a warrant

At 1:35 p.m. today, loud man from Alaska came in to the courthouse and said a sheriff's deputy saw him dumping firewood and said it was illegal and told the guy he had a warrant.

Dr. Mark Super testifies in the Sotolongo trial

 


Forensic pathologist Dr. Mark Super testified today for the People in the Gearold Sotolongo case.  Dr. Super has testified many high profile cases such as Jason Warren and Gary Bullock. He used to do the Humboldt autopsies and now the Central Coast is benefitting from his expertise.

The jury left at 2:05 this afternoon. 

Protective order served on Cody Pitzer

 


Cody Jonathon Pitzer was arrested by Eureka Police Department on May 13 for PC 594(b)(1) vandalism and PC368(b)(1) elder abuse. He was arraigned on May 17 on those charges. A protective order was served on him that day.

He has two previous cases.

Trevor Earley's family and friend pack the courtroom for the preliminary hearing

Alderpoint homicide suspect Jake Combs preliminary hearing had been continued twice. I have covered the reasons in detail in prior coverage. It finally proceeded today with Visiting Judge Marjorie Carter.

Combs is charged with one count of murder and a special allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm causing great bodily injury and death to Trevor John Earley.

Judge Timothy Canning endorses Steven Steward for next Humboldt judge

The Honorable Judge Timothy A. Canning of the Humboldt County Superior Court has endorsed Steven Steward to be Humboldt County’s next Superior Court Judge.

Sean, who plays favorites with certain local media isn't satisfied that the County talking points have been parroted by LOCO, NCJ and others. The forums are for public. Sean, are we paying you overtime? The County trying to dominate any chance for the public to get independent information is so pathetic.
