"I commit to being a judge that is fair to all litigants that may come before me. I will decide cases free from political pressures and remain unbiased and impartial at all times."

Deputy District Attorney Steven Steward is one of the candidates running for Judge Christopher Wilson's seat. I did a post three days ago on Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin. Mr. Steward's website is up.

Ben McLaughlin's candidate statement is more than words because he has shown through his actions that this is who he is and what he believes

Ben McLaughlin's candidate statement from his website is worth reading if you don't know him.  He is the most diverse candidate to run for local Judge. He has experience as a prosecutor and defense attorney; his testimonials, supporters and outreach are people from different walks of life. For women and the LGBTQ community, this is an opportunity to for you to elect someone who doesn't say the right words but has advocated and fought for you in the system.

For my friend Nazy I am happy and wish her the best

I keep my personal life private. Nazy and I stopped commenting or sharing on Facebook but our friendship has remained strong. For those who missed her live announcement, she is leaving Humboldt. I knew but it was her news and she deserved to share it first. Friendship is more important than a scoop. Wednesday is her last day on air at KAEF in Humboldt. She will be anchoring the morning show from KRCR in Redding.

I reported about the aviation lawsuit and the stipulation is no surprise

I was the first one to report in 2020 about this lawsuit. Based on my initial conversations with the plaintiff's attorney, the stipulation and dismissal are no surprise. The goal of the lawsuit was always compliance.

The County tried to put a nice  spin in their press release. Read my previous coverage first. Why does the County have to be sued by individuals, groups and even the State to get into compliance?

There is only one choice for the next Humboldt DA and it is Stacey Eads

I was waiting for Ms. Stacey Eads to make a public announcement and she did. Will Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees throw in his hat? After Ms. Eads announcement,I doubt it.

Did this lawsuit play a role in Ian Hoffman's resignation?

On December 6, I reported about a lawsuit filed by Paul Leslie against County of Humboldt, Humboldt County Board of Supervisors and Ian Hoffman.

Armed suspect demands cash and cigarettes from Broadway store

Discount Cigarettes is on 2710 Broadway.

As I already reported, it was an EPD POP officer who shot Little Eagle Moon

(Couch)

(Moon)

I reported on January 8 an EPD officer and a member of the POP team shot Little Eagle Moon and what EPD policy is and that it was changed after the Clayton Lasinski shooting.

I reported on Moon's arrest this morning. I was right about who the officer was; EPD officer Joseph Couch is a member of the POP team. I  reported days ago that Moon was at St. Joseph's and transferred to U.C. Davis and about wounds to his hands. I reported on January 3  the other two passengers were Belle Colegrove and Terrance Ballard.

I was the only one to report all these correct details and do so before the press release.

Little Eagle Moon booked into Humboldt County for attempted murder

(HCSO)

Little Eagle Moon was finally booked into the Humboldt County jail for attempted murder and various other charges. He is on a double no bail status for the attempted murder as well as the parole violation.

On January 8, I asked if  the EPD officer who shot at Little Eagle Moon was a member of the POP unit. Let's see if a press release is issued today. Moon needs to be arraigned by 1/14/22.

Will there actually be a trial or will the Kalin lawsuit quietly resolve?

(Judge Elvine-Kreis with Rory Kalin and other Humboldt County public defenders)

The case management conference scheduled for December 10, 2021 in the lawsuit filed by former Humboldt Deputy Public Defender Rory Kalin against Humboldt Superior Court Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis, former Public Defender Marek Reavis and current Public Defender Luke Brownfield was continued by stipulation to 2/14/2022.

Apellate court describes Elvine-Kreis' order suffering from "fatal procedural defects"

Thomas Rollins did not allow Judge Gregory Elvine-Kreis' to bully him. He appealed and he won.

Repeat offender arrested for grand theft and violation of probation

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a Myers Flat man as a result of an ongoing investigation into the theft of gasoline and tools from a Humboldt County Roads facility in Southern Humboldt.

What will Brett Watson's excuse be for this investigation?

Arcata Councilmember Brett Watson, four months after getting the "Humboldt Janssen Malloy special" for his DUI case, is now being investigated for potential violations of the City Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy.

If Watson had any morals, ethics, was capable of shame and actually cared about the City of Arcata, he would voluntarily step down from serving on Arcata City Council.
