Fire located in Redwood House in Carlotta is 50 percent contained

CALFire Battalion Chief Paul Savonna sent out this information.

The Redwood Incident began on October 23. 2020 at 12:41 PM.  The fire is located in the Redwood House Road Area  of Carlotta.   The fire is currently 102 acres and 50% contained.  The cause is under investigation and there is no current structure threat.  Suppression crews will be working in the area for the next couple of days.  Residents are advised to stay away from the area and there will be increased vehicle traffic and smoke in the area.

Trial  confirmation was scheduled on October 15 for Brian Daniels. Jury trial for October 26 was confirmed on that day. He has more than one case.

Michael Acosta fails to show up, again in Anderson case, and there has been no communication or contact from him to the court

No testimony, so far, has established that Demetrius Coleman is the one who shot Johnny Renfro

Not sure what the point of Arcata Police Department Officer Tyler Moore's testimony was and it was very brief. There has been no dispute raised about the green Honda or the fact that Alma Ahumadamendoza is Demetrius Coleman's girlfriend. Charges against Ahumadamendoza were dismissed after the preliminary hearing. 

Jury trial for Albert Kress rescheduled because no courtrooms are available

 

Trial confirmation for Albert Kress had been continued to October 22. On October 23, at trial assignment,  the jury trial for October 26 was continued by the Court because there is no courtroom available.

Kim Bergel has to pay $11,140 in attorney fees in her case against Cornelius Loewenstein

A hearing for attorney fees was scheduled in the Kimberly Bergel and Cornelius Loewenstein case this morning.

Trial assignment for convicted human trafficker David Anderson was scheduled this morning. JIt is unlikely that the jury trial for October 26 will proceed, however that decision was put over to this afternoon because Anderson's attorney, Mr. Michael Acosta was signed into Zoom but did not unmute his video or audio.

Gunshot wound to abdomen was cause of death for Johnny Renfro

The 5th witness in the Demetrius Coleman trial was forensic pathologist, Dr. Mark Super. He testified that the cause of death for Johnny Renfro was gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Bullet struck Renfro's lower abdomen," little to the right of midline, perforated his skin", perforated parts of small bowel and struck Renfro's tailbone.

Jurors won't hear about Johnny Renfro's toxicology report and criminal history of the woman who last spoke to him

Before testimony this morning, Judge Kelly Neel ruled on people's motions to exclude certain evidence.

People make an offer to resolve in Gary Cudney case

Setting of jury trial and hearing on the 995 motion  for Gary Cudney was scheduled this morning.

No weapon recovered, an unknown person "coming off heroin", a murder investigation and Sgt Beauchaine was arrogant enough to dismiss his actions under cross examination

Demetrius Coleman is lucky to have Ms. Andrea Sullivan as his attorney. As readers have come to know, she puts in  200 percent. She is an excellent defense attorney, respected and successful in several California counties for a reason.

The People's third witness was Shaylynn Lenardo who lives at 70 Monument Road. She was cooking dinner and was with her friend Jenny Ripple when she heard "a couple of gunshots." She could not recall how many gunshots she heard.

"For the powerful or for the people?"

Senators Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders and Kirsten Gillibrand and other speakers spoke against the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court today in Washington D.C. This is one of the many recent protests and rallies. "For the powerful or for the People?" was one refrain heard today.

Between each witness, court cleaning staff has to sanitize, so trial is on break

After police got involved, Regina Osenbaugh and her husband claimed they did not know Demetrius Coleman, defense says "my client brought them one million in cash"

Demetrius Coleman's attorney, Ms. Andrea Sullivan brought up several of the weaknesses in the People's case, including that her client could not be identified. She made an excellent case for reasonable doubt.
