We are all busy. Rex, you and Billy are usually responsive but there is no reason or excuse when you are given a deadline about safety concerns to not respond and just ignore it. Both of you couldn't even send a response saying, "I am working on it."

Around 5:30 took a walk after an exhausting day, a small break to support a local restaurant only to have this woman who wanders all over town with her sunken face, ranting gibberish, banging on fences, the wall screaming at random people walking by and then disappears into the bushes while I take this photo. Right near the area where Wesley Starritt stabbed a random woman.
EPD needs information on bank robbery suspect
On June 23, 2020, at about 3:58 p.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a bank on the 700 block of 5th Street for the report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Preliminary hearing was scheduled this afternoon for Jacquelyn Bradley. She is charged with first degree residential burglary and "unlawfully entering" EPD Sgt. Edward Wilson's house.
The Court is gearing up to reconvene jury trials and will be summoning jurors to appear beginning the middle of July."

Deputy DA Luke Bernthal returns to Humboldt County DA's office and Adrian Kamada goes to work at the Public Defender office
Deputy DA Luke Bernthal is back at the DA's office. Adrian Kamada is back and as I reported previously, Mr. Kamada is now working for the Public Defender's office.
DA Maggie Fleming had confirmed that Mr. Kamada had left the DA's office. He never responded to me. Word is that he was fired.

Will cerification of competency for Hugo ParralAguirre be continued for the fourth time or will criminal proceedings be reinstated today?
Certification of competency was scheduled for attempted murder suspect Hugo Parral-Aguirre on June 11; continued to June 16 and continued to this morning. Criminal proceedings were reinstated today as both the People and defense stipulated to the State Department report.
"I have spoken with co-counsel and Ms. Schaffer to continue sentencing to July 16 to allow him to be personally present"
Sentencing was scheduled this morning for Humboldt Hill child abuse suspects Christopher Best and Gaylia Wilson. It was continued to July 16 so defendants could be personally present.
There was a probation report for Best but there was no report for Wilson. Since all parties agreed to the continuance, Judge Timothy Canning granted Ms. Sullivan's request.

Two additional cases of COVID-19 confirmed today
Two additional cases of COVID-19 were reported today, bringing to 112 the total number of Humboldt County residents who have tested positive for the virus.
Kim Bergel a no show, case called twice
The hearing for request for a restraining order by Eureka City Councilmember Kim Bergel against Cornelius Loewenstein was rescheduled to April 13 and reset again to June 22, 2020. Mr. Arlie Capps is Loewenstein's attorney.
The case was called twice. Judge Kelly Neel checked to see if Bergel or anyone on her behalf was logged in via Zoom in that Courtroom or any other courtroom.
Public Defender Marek Reavis is back
I ran into him right now at the Courthouse. I previously reported he would be back. Mr. Reavis had been placed on admin leave. I also asked the question in my last post, will Mr. Reavis briefly return and then retire. County has beem mum regarding Mr. Reavis being placed on admin leave and when I asked them about his return, stating it is a personnel issue.
"We have a larger outbreak in Fresno but you all are stricter here."
Tourists may officially have been allowed in Humboldt this weekend but they have been around for at least a couple of months.
I ventured beyond my regular route this weekend. I noticed many people without facial coverings. Several people were here from other parts of California. Others were local.
