Jane Doe was on the stand this afternoon for two hours and 45 minutes for direct examination by Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads. She is 16 years old now but looks like she is 12 years old.
"You will hear evidence that Jane Doe is a willing participant."
The defense opening statement was five minutes long. Deputy Public Defender reminded the jurors about his questions during jury selection.
"If she resisted, she would be raped more frequently and for longer periods of time."
Opening statements in Seng Yang's jury trial started half an hour later than scheduled. Since Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads and DA Investigator Kyla Baxley were sitting outside court while interpreters and Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield were in the courtroom, I assume Yang turned down another plea deal.

"EPD generally does not release booking photos upon request unless they are associated with an EPD press release or incident where we want or need to get the information out to the public."
