The Turpins pleaded guilty to 14 counts today, they face 25 years to life in prison




David Turpin and Louise Turpin pleaded guilty to 14 counts today.

Each of them entered a guilty plea to one count of torture, four counts of false imprisonment, six counts of cruelty to an adult dependent and three counts of willful child cruelty. They face 25 years to life in prison.

Man who shot at Napa County deputy during a traffic stop was a Mexican who had been previously deported three times




Napa County Sheriff released a graphic video on their Facebook page with a warning about the content. Javier Morales pulled over for a traffic stop, rolled down his window and fired at the deputy.

51 year old stabbing victim taken to hospital, Fortuna PD not identifying suspect at this time


On February 21, 2019 at 5:09 a.m. the Fortuna Police Department Communications Center received a 911 call from a subject reporting a stabbing in the 2300 block of Acacia Drive in Fortuna.

Motions in limine and review of hardship questionnaires was scheduled this morning in former Humboldt County correctional officer Cory Fisher's case.

Attorneys will be reviewing hardship questionnaires from at least 50 jurors and individual questioning of individual jurors is expected to start as early as Tuesday afternoon.

One bad check written by Nina Viescas leads to Fortuna PD arresting her for more bad checks




This morning, the department was contacted by a local business owner who reported that a customer, Nina Viescas (age 50 of Fortuna) had written a check at their business for more than $400.00 and the check was returned by the bank as the account had been closed for more than a year.

Island Mountain suspect Franklin Molina now charged with 8 counts; preliminary scheduled for April


Motion to amend complaint for Island Mountain armed robbery suspect for Franklin Molina and trial setting was continued to February 26. The case was put back on calendar today.

Judge Christopher Wilson granted the motion to file the first amended complaint. There was no objection by the defense. Molina entered pleas of not guilty to all counts and special allegations.

A hearing on the People's motion to continue Seng Yang's jury trial was scheduled for February 21. It was granted by Judge Lawrence Killoran.
