Edward Winkle White found not guilty of one count of sexual penetration with a foreign object


The jury in Edward Winkle White did not deliberate for long. Just moments ago, Jane Doe walked out with her mother.

It was a hung jury for Counts 1-4. Not guilty on Count 5.

Trial confirmation was scheduled this morning for Jon Goldberg. Jury trial  for February 5 confirmed.

Jane Doe, a minor, showed text messages allegedly from Seng Yang stating video needed to be redone and sex acts he had plannned



Seng Yang charged with 10 felony counts. Charges listed in detail below: rape of a child including forcible oral copulation, sexual intercourse, sodomy, distribution of child pornography and knowingly employing or coercing a minor to participate in the production of child porn.

Judge Roger Rees?

The press release that Judge Dale Reinholtsen was retiring at the end of his term in December 2018 just went out yesterday.

Just a few hours later, I heard Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is considering applying for that vacant Judge position.

Kody Marcelli's court record, so far

Kody Marcelli has one NC case, which means no complaint filed for PC 25850 (a), carrying a loaded firearm in public. Three traffic/infraction cases in the system for which he was sentenced and fined.

So Kody Marcelli being drunk and carrying a loaded firearm in public is considered basic gun safety?

Kody Marcelli entered a plea in his 2017 case today. Three years probation with five days in jail. Marcelli got credit for two days. He has a future date to serve the three days in jail or sign up for SWAP.

Desiree Henley did show up for court this time; being in custody does guarantee that experience

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads and Deputy Public Defender Joann Carter met with Judge Dale Reinholtsen yestetday and today to go over scheduling, expert witness availability, juror questionnaires and motions in limine filed by both the People and the defense.

Retired Riverside Superior Court Judge appointed to hear Jon Goldberg trial


Both of Jon Goldberg's cases are scheduled for trial confirmation on 1/24. Jury trial is scheduled for February 5.

A minute order was issued today appointing Visiting Judge Graham Cribbs to preside over the jury trial. Judge Cribbs retired from the Riverside Superior Court.

Motion to amend complaint with new charges against Cory Fisher granted


Former correctional deputy Cory Fisher was arraigned this morning on an amended complaint. Dates remain the same.

Does United Airlines service to small communities like Eureka signal a change?

"She was in the room, on the bed when defendant was molesting Jane Doe."

After going through the charges in the Edward Winkle White case, Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer asked the jury,
"Can you convict based on only Jane Doe's testimony?" She mentioned jury instruction 1190.

"In a courtroom, you got a mic, you have people staring at you, judging you?"


Six men and six women heard closing arguments  today by Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer and Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield in the Edward Winkle White case.
