Jury sworn yesterday in attempted murder James Atkins' trial. Opening statements today.
Humboldt Superior Court Judge Steven Steward is the trial judge. Senior Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor. Los Angeles attorney Anthony Tall is Atkins' attorney.
Eureka Police Officers Richard Stancliff, Nick Jones, Ben Altic and Tyler Moore testified. This is EPD. These are experienced officers. The photos and evidence in exhibits just yesterday is extensive and detailed. Humboldt County Correctional Deputy Manuel Castellanos testified and Exhibit 33 copy of a handwritten letter by Matthew Lyle Dilley was identified and marked as evidence. Sanford Vonladwig was the last People's witness yesterday.
